Break Through The “Robot” System and Take the First Step to Create an Intelligent Worker Release time: November 26, 2018

With the integration of industrial technology and information technology, especially the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence, the robot industry is at a critical point of transformation and upgrading. Many industry experts said that in the future, robots will go through a major transformation from “machines” to “robots” and that the new-generation robots will be more intelligent, which provides an implementation path for China’s robot industry to move towards the mid-to-high end of the industrial chain. This is essentially the same idea that ELITE has proposed, that “intelligence manufacturing in the age of the Internet of Things will need to rely on the ‘smart workers’”.

“Smart workers” are robots that can cooperate with their hands and brains. They have both the ability to execute and the ability to think and learn. Machinery, structure and traditional motion control technology are the basic support for smart workers, while vision, AI and other functions are the core and soul that make them practical in everyday life.

Based on the concept of “body + cerebellum + AI empowerment”, Beijing ELITE has now transformed into the role of a research institute, with a team about 50 people focusing on pre-technology research and prototype development, including new collaborative robot prototypes, advanced technologies and algorithms of machine vision, artificial intelligence, motion control.

Suzhou ELITE, which set foot into the Suzhou Industrial Park in April this year, focuses more on the product level, including production, quality control, pre-sale and customer service, and marketing. It has completed human deployment and has more than 100 employees, including more than 50 personnel working on technology. So far, ELITE has an annual production capacity of 5,000 robots of various types, and the sales target of industrial robots + collaborative robots in the coming year is 3,000 units.

In order to cultivate talents in the robot industry, ELITE signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Guide Vehicle Robot Academy in July 2018, focusing on the development of industrial robot markets, and cooperating in the areas of robot engineer training and customer service.

In just 2 years, ELITE has realized the fast-paced business advancement from a single controller product to mass production of collaborative and industrial complete robots and to the landing of machine vision project, from the development of core components for machine manufacturers to industry-oriented solutions. Such impressive result probably gets you wondering: what is ELITE’s business architecture, technical layout, and product route plan? Let’s go into ELITE together to find out!

■ The Continuously Evolving Robot Motion Control System

ELITE CTO Sun Kai recently told GG robotics networks that ELITE attaches great importance to the continuous iteration of various product lines. Recently, new features such as six-dimensional motion sensor precision drag and the drag and teach full trace reproduction function, as well as the full-closed-loop dynamic look-ahead interpolation algorithms are introduced into the motion control system.

Six-dimensional motion sensor precision drag teaching function. High precision teaching can be realized through advanced motion control algorithm combined with six-dimensional motion sensor with intuitive and simple operation. That way, the traditional training time and the user’s psychology barrier will be greatly reduced to accelerate market advancement.

The drag and teach full trace reproduction function can record the trajectory during the dragging process and save it as an action program. It supports operations such as combining, insertion, and deletion, and supports mixed editing of other instructions and action programs. This function greatly enhances the practicality of drag teaching and further simplifies teaching operations, and is especially suitable for spraying, polishing and other industries.

The full-closed-loop dynamic look-ahead interpolation algorithm is ELITE’s second-generation interpolation algorithm after the acceleration of look-ahead and micro-segment adaptive speed control. The algorithm integrates trajectory error control, robot dynamics, real-time torque feedback of the motor, and real-time position feedback of the motor. On the premise of ensuring the trajectory accuracy, the maximum performance of one axis can be achieved at any given moment, which greatly reduces the cycle time. The newly released version adds support for external axes, and further broadens the application scope of the algorithm.

■ The Increasingly Comprehensive Industrial Robot Product Line

In order to provide better industry-oriented solutions, Luo Zhaohui, CEO of Suzhou ELITE, introduced that ELITE has completed the layout of product lines for market segments. For traditional industrial applications, four major product series have been introduced, namely small general-purpose six-axis robots and SCARA series commonly used in the 3C industry, 4-axis stamping and moving robot series, welding robot series, and machine loading and unloading robot series.

For non-traditional industrial applications, ELITE relies on its advantages and expertise over motion control and machine vision, and gradually cuts into the links that require high efficiency work in logistics, new retail and other scenarios, and practically solves the pain points in these scenarios to bring long-term economic benefits to its clients.

ELITE industrial robot products are positioned in the mid-to-high-end market of domestic robots. With the advantages of motion control and years of process accumulation in specific industries, ELITE industrial robots are designed to meet the needs of the market. While ensuring excellent robot performance, ELITE also guarantees good cost controlling.

■ Create A Collaborative Robot System Of “Arm + Claw+ Machine Vision”

With the advancement of computer technology, especially the advancement of artificial intelligence technology, and the reduction of the costs of machine vision system integration and vision sensor hardware, the possibility of using low-cost 3D sensors to achieve high-precision positioning has greatly increased.

Aiming at this trend, ELITE has launched an intelligent collaborative robot system including EC66 collaborative robot, EG230 intelligent electric gripper and ECX560 intelligent controller.
